Kneecap Dislocation
Source: Verywell Health
A dislocation of the kneecap occurs when the patella comes completely out of its groove on the end of the thigh bone (femur), and comes to rest on the outside of the knee joint. People who injure the extensor mechanism may tear the quad tendon, tear the patellar tendon, or fracture the kneecap. All of these injuries have similar treatments and rehabilitation plans.
